opportunity for an experienced Enterprise Data Architect.
Data is a key business asset for REI. As an Enterprise Architect, you
will establish and maintain alignment among the enterprise architecture,
the strategic IT plan and the strategic priorities of the business by
leading the business to define and drive the enterprise information/data
architecture strategy and roadmap and by defining and implementing
strategies, principles and standards for data modeling, data quality and
metadata management (including how data will be organized, stored,
accessed and moved). You will also interact with architecture efforts
with a particular focus around data warehouse, enterprise application
integration, business intelligence, master data management, metadata
management and analytic technologies in support of strategic directions.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Translate enterprise or business requirements into long-term
information/data architecture solutions
- Analyze and develop enterprise master data management and lines of
business data warehouse solutions aligned to enterprise strategies
- Develop and steward the technology components of the data governance
processes
- Define and maintain best practice guidelines and standards for data,
metadata, XML and data modeling and management
- Document technology roadmaps and the transition from the current
architectural framework to target architecture of the future
- Serve as point of escalation, review and approval for key issues,
significant projects and decisions with regards to enterprise data and
information
- Advise business and technology groups on future technology options,
outlining risks, costs, benefits and capabilities
- Collaborate with business analysts, engineers and project managers on
a wide range of technology projects, including software development,
package installation and infrastructure upgrades and changes
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 10+ years of IT experience
- Previous Retail IT experience, preferred
- Detailed understanding of information/data architecture
- Experience successfully implementing data-centric applications, such
as data warehouses, operational data stores, and data integration
projects
- Business Intelligence competency experience
- Demonstrated experience working with technical and business teams
- Demonstrated experience translating business and technical
requirements into data models
- Comprehensive understanding and experience in master data management
best practices and ability to be a leader in their implementation
- Experience in metadata management - maintenance as well as design and
implementation of metadata driven enterprise solutions
- Working knowledge of data architecture principles, terminology and
data modeling techniques
- Detailed understanding of Database Taxonomies (Data Warehousing /
Operational Data Stores/Data Marts)
- Demonstrated ability to produce conceptual, logical, and physical data
models
- Proven experience with data modeling tools
- Experience and in-depth knowledge of ETL methodologies
- Detailed understanding of relational database (Oracle, DB2udb,MS SQL
Server)
- Solid understanding of reporting technologies including Business
Objects
- Knowledge and experience with industry reference models and data
governance processes
- Knowledge of data discovery methodologies (questionnaires, interviews,
business process mapping, etc.)
- Knowledge of data classification modeling, defining business owners
and developing role based access.
- Familiarity with data privacy, compliance, and security principles and
standards (PCI, HIPAA, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience with EAI, SOA and web services
- Demonstrated experience implementing information management around
ERP/SAP solutions strongly desired
- Strong strategic planning capabilities
- Work with cross-functional IT groups to promote open communication and
teamwork
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Experience with any of the following frameworks (FEA, ZIFA, TOGAF,
etc.)
- Understanding of the enterprise architecture discipline, processes,
concepts and best practices
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to document and
present data models, strategies, standards, and concepts to both
business and IT audiences
